Raksystems changes its Group CEO – Tuomas Qvick to succeed Marko Malmivaara
Aiming to be the European sustainability leader in the built environment, Raksystems will appoint Tuomas Qvick (MBA) as the new Group CEO. Tuomas will start in his new position in September 2023. Marko Malmivaara, the company’s founder and current CEO, will join the Raksystems Board of Directors.
“After 34 years as the CEO, it’s time for me to step aside and let new energy flow, although the feelings are naturally bittersweet. In the future, I’ll continue to strongly support the company through my board position and remain a significant owner,” says Marko Malmivaara, Raksystems Group CEO who will stay on until Tuomas starts in his new role.
Tuomas Qvick has been leading Schneider Electric’s building automation and technology division for the past eight years in Finland and the Nordic region, with a strong focus on sustainability. Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Tuomas worked for over ten years at Halton Group with advanced indoor climate solutions.
Tuomas is a strategic business leader with a strong track record in growing businesses profitably in the Nordics and internationally. He has a deep understanding of the market dynamics and has successfully navigated through various challenges to achieve sustainable growth.
“Tuomas has a very relevant profile for leading Raksystems to become a European leader in the field of sustainable real estate, as well as a profound understanding of the building and construction industry,” says Samir Kamal, chairman of the company and Senior Advisor at Trill Impact.
Marko Malmivaara founded the company in 1989 while still studying at Helsinki University of Technology. The past decades in the company’s history truly reflect his resilience, business acumen and human-centered approach to leadership. Originally established by three students performing condition inspections, the company has become a leading Nordic expert company in the sustainable real estate business, currently operating in Finland and Sweden and employing 730 experts. The company’s estimated revenue for 2023 is €95 million (pro forma).
“I humbly accept the responsibility granted to me by the company’s board and look forward to building on Marko’s remarkable achievements. With the cooperation of both country teams and Trill Impact, together we can further drive the company’s business towards even greater success. Raksystems has a strong portfolio of expert services for buildings – both business customers and private households – and I believe Raksystems is well positioned to capture growing opportunities in these segments. The demand for such expert services is rapidly increasing, as all European countries must improve the performance of existing and new buildings,” says Tuomas Qvick, who will start as the company’s Group CEO on 1 September 2023.
